Marine Wire & Cables
Marine wire and boat cables are required to meet several key electrical regulations where electrical wiring is specified. Marine cable differs in many ways from typical automotive electrical cable or other general use power wire. Although the wires appear similar at first glance, there is a difference in the conditions surrounding marine specific installations that require marine wiring to outperform its counterparts, that are designed primarily for land use. In terms of regulation, all marine wires that have been investigated by UL will meet the requirements of UL1426, the numerical standard referenced in the BDFX.info reference standard for boat cable.
Some key characteristics of marine wires include:
Flexible stranded copper conductor; an electroplated tin coating, which is designed to greatly reduce corrosion; The jacket and/or insulation of the cable will have been tested to a flammability standard for safety; The jacket and insulation is rated water resistant.
At Anchor Marine Supply you will find wire that supports speaker, battery, and other instrumental or guage purposes. All are aprroved for marine envrionment and are offered at different specs depending on use.
